We all like to think we’re logical. And we are, sometimes. But mostly we’re emotional. That’s how we make decisions. That’s how we bought our latest car. Sure, I was logical. It’s a hybrid, it’s a Toyota, it’s only done 12,000 km, etc. But the truth is, I liked driving it. I still like driving it. I have no idea how most of the functions and settings work. And I don’t care. Did I mention that I like driving it? I could have bought a new EV for what I paid for a 4-year-old car that still smells new inside. Fortunately, my wife also likes driving it. This is how almost all decisions are made. Emotionally first, then defended by logic. I built the Media Archiver tool because I got really ticked off with not having enough space on the hard drive. The computer was slowing down. I couldn’t install a new program I wanted to test. I really was ticked off enough that I nearly threw something. That’s not a logical way to behave, is it? Nope. I did something that took all that emotion out of the equation. Emotion first, then logic. The feeling of moving files from the document and download folders to an external hard drive is satisfying.
