You have an elastic brain.

It’s one of the most adaptable things you own.

I’ve been reading The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge.

One idea stood out.

Emotion plays a huge role in how the brain rewires itself.

Which explains something interesting.

Reading your goals doesn’t do much on its own.

But reading them and feeling them?

That’s different.

That’s what creates change.

It’s why visualisation works better when there’s emotion behind it.

So some of the “self-help” advice might actually be right.

Even if most people don’t know why.

Personally, I like to understand how things work.

Maybe that comes from spending 40 years as a technician.

Or perhaps that’s why I was a tech for so long.

But most people don’t need to understand the engine to drive the car.

They just need to use it properly.

Same applies here.

You don’t need to understand your brain in detail.

Your brain doesn’t change from information it changes from experience actual or visualised.

So if you want change, add emotion to what you’re visualising.

That’s the lever.

He was running late.

Not by much, but enough to feel the pressure building.

Traffic slowed him down.
A small argument delayed him even more.

By the time he reached the airport, the gate had closed.

Frustrating.

He had a confirmed seat on one of the flights that left that morning…
…on September 11, 2001.

At first, all he could think was:

everything had gone wrong.

Until he realised, it hadn’t.

That delay, that argument, that moment he couldn’t control, saved his life.

Stories like this stay with you.

Because they reveal something most people miss:

Not every delay is a problem.

Sometimes it’s protection.

Sometimes it’s perspective.

And sometimes, it’s the space you need to make a better decision.

Especially with money.

How often do people:
Say yes too quickly.
Commit without thinking.

Move forward because they feel they “should”.

That’s where mistakes happen.

Not from doing nothing, but from moving too fast.

At this stage, most people don’t want complexity.

They want:

A bit of extra income
More breathing room
Fewer rushed decisions

And sometimes the smartest move, is to pause long enough to actually see what you’re stepping into.

This isn’t really about the Yowie.

It’s about something more useful.

Long before the word “Yowie” existed.

Indigenous Australians were describing the same thing.

Tall.
Hair-covered.
Living deep in the bush.

Different regions.

Same descriptions.

Not stories for entertainment.

Observations.

Repeated over time.

Here’s the interesting part.

When something shows up consistently, across different people, places, and time, there’s usually something real behind it.

Maybe not obvious.

But real enough to pay attention to.

That idea matters more than you think.

Especially with money.

Because most mistakes don’t come from doing nothing.

They come from:

Trusting the wrong thing, or not having a clear way to think things through

Opportunities show up all the time.

Some sound good.
Some feel right.

But without a simple way to step back, it’s easy to go in circles.

Or commit to something that doesn’t actually make sense.

Where progress feels slow.

That’s not failure.

That’s the process.

It’s proof you’re doing something.

Because you don’t find problems until you’re in motion.

And solving those problems?

That’s where the growth is.

That’s where skill is built.

That’s where results come from.

Most people try to avoid this stage.

They plan.
They prepare.
They try to think through everything in advance.

But it doesn’t work.

Because the real problems are never the ones you planned for.

You only find them by doing the work.

What do they say?

What do you show them?

It’s an uncomfortable thought.

But it’s a useful one.

Because if nothing changes…

…nothing changes.

If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you’ll keep getting what you’ve been getting.

That’s not harsh.

That’s just cause and effect.

And cause always comes first.

You don’t sit in front of a fireplace and demand heat, before you build the fire.

You build it.
You light it.

Then the heat comes.

Same online.

Income doesn’t come first.

You build something.
You put an offer in front of people.
You get traffic to it.

Then results follow.

Most people want the heat first.

It doesn’t work like that.

So if five years from now matters.

Change something now.

Start small if you have to.

But start.

Five years will pass anyway, the question is what you’ll have to show for it.

Sounds backwards, doesn’t it?

Before 1859, whale oil was the primary fuel for lighting.

Which meant:

Whales were being hunted heavily.
Towards extinction.

At the same time, New York had a different problem.

Horses.

Ten of thousands of them.

And with them, tons of manure piling up in the streets.

Two completely different problems.

Then something changed.

Edwin Drake drilled the first oil well.

Suddenly, there was a new fuel.

Cheaper.
More efficient.
More scalable.

Whaling declined.

Cars replaced horses.

Two major problems… solved.

At the time, fossil fuels were seen as the solution.

Today?

Some people see them as the problem.

What changed?

The market.

Needs change.
Perception changes.
Priorities change.

And that’s the part most people miss.

What works now, won’t work forever.

Which is why guessing is dangerous.

The only reliable way forward is testing.

Multiple ideas.
Multiple assets.
Multiple signals.

Let the market show you:

what it wants
what it ignores
what it’s moving toward

That’s where the advantage is.

Not in being right, but in adapting quickly.

The people who win aren’t the ones who are right, they’re the ones who adjust fastest.

At least… that’s what it looked like.

For years, Barbie sales dropped.

Same product.
Same brand.
Same massive awareness.

So what changed?

The market.

Mothers didn’t like what Barbie represented.

So they stopped buying.

No amount of advertising could fix that.

Because this is the rule most people ignore:

The market decides.

Not you.
Not the product creator.
Not the marketer.

The market.

Mattel eventually adapted.

Changed the product.

Adjusted to what people actually wanted.

And sales improved.

Same lesson applies to everything you’re doing.

If your content, offers, or ideas don’t match the market…

nothing happens.

But here’s the advantage you have:

You don’t have to guess.

You can test.

That’s why I keep talking about:

You’re not trying to get it right first time.

You’re letting the market tell you what works.

Most of what people learn never gets used, and that’s the real problem.

Think about that.

You can read books.
Watch videos.
Buy courses.

But if nothing changes, you haven’t learned anything.

You’ve just collected information.

That’s the trap most people fall into.

They prepare.

They consume.

They plan.

But they don’t act.

And without action nothing happens.

That’s why people can have:

A head full of knowledge and no income.

Real learning looks different.

You try something.
You see what happens.
You adjust.

Then you do it again.

That’s how understanding builds.

And when you can explain it to someone else?

That’s when you really get it.

So if you’re stuck, it’s probably not because you don’t know enough.

It’s because you haven’t used what you already know.

Action is the difference.

Always.
