When meeting new people they almost always ask, “What do you do?” For me, it’s usually centred on what I do on the computer. Our eldest daughter tells me she’s not tall enough to understand the answer. Our youngest daughter understands the language, but not the activity. The same with her husband. They both work as programmers in different roles. My riding buddy understands the big ideas but not the doing. Very few people grasp what I do. I’ve never met anyone who does the same thing. And yet, I find it fascinating. What is it? I make a computer do what I want it to do. I make websites do what I want them to do. I automate tedious processes. I use AI now to speed things up. I still have to know code so I can guide the AI tool to the end result. I could talk about this in a social setting for hours, but I’ve got tired of watching people’s eyes glaze over. So, I just tell them I create apps and websites. What do you tell them? Regards, P.S. It’s easier to show you than explain it. Here’s one thing I built. It’s a PDF that walks you through building a tool in Claude, the AI, that writes prompts specific to your business and your market. Better prompts get better results from whatever AI you use. I mostly build these for myself. This one’s pay what you want. One reader said: “I always thought those ‘prompt packs’ were virtually worthless; now I know for sure.” https://link.ckv.to/prompt-guide |
