Movies are supposed to be magical. The special effects are what makes a movie special. Why would you want to destroy that by learning how they did it? OK, if you’re a budding director or otherwise involved in making movies I understand that’s important. But for me, that’s a no. Does anyone write a book about how they wrote the book? Actually, yes they do. I remember reading The Grapes of Wrath concurrently with Steinbeck’s journal from the same period, where he wrote to a friend about how the work was going. That was fascinating for me, but I also write. So I guess the important part is this: knowing how something is done matters if you plan or are currently involved with doing something similar. If that’s not the case, then spending time enjoying the finished product is all you need to do. Sometimes, not knowing how to do something is a handicap. The challenge comes when you want to learn how to do something, and you’re not sure who to ask for the help you need. In a lecture by Cleese recently he argued that statistics show that only 10 to 15 percent of people are actually competent at their jobs. He also argued that competence and confidence are inversely correlated. The person confidently telling you they can help you learn what you need to know is probably wrong. But there is a way to improve the chances of getting advice you can use. When you train an AI tool on your circumstances, your audience, your products, it can sift through an Internet of content, ideas, and tools. The AI tool’s ability to search and filter information is far superior to yours or mine, that’s why I use them daily. That’s why I built the Prompt Guide for Claude. I tried other tools and this is the one I felt gave the best responses. It starts by asking you questions about your business, then uses your answers to produce targeted prompts for you to use. Targeted prompts will always give you a better output than a generic one. If you want to check it out: https://link.ckv.to/prompt-guide Regards, P.S. In an awkward segue (deliberate, since I publish a tool or something useful every Friday) I’m sharing a GPT I made for me. Create profitable short reports in under an hour. This GPT helps you: find profitable niches, build report outlines, generate chapter ideas, create titles and hooks, plan simple monetisation, and turn reports into lead magnets or digital products. |
