I noticed something recently in the Kindle app on my iPad. It has a feature called Reading Insights that tracks how often you read. Apparently I’ve read for 273 weeks in a row. That’s just over five years. It is also 1 week longer than my previous longest streak. I didn’t know that. I don’t check it. It doesn’t affect whether I read or not. I read over breakfast. I read over lunch. And I read at night when I shut the computer down. The streak didn’t create the habit. The habit created the streak. Most people try to do it the other way around. They chase the streak. But if the habit is strong enough, the streak happens automatically. It’s the same with anything. Exercise. Writing. Building a business. You don’t chase the result. You build the habit. The result takes care of itself. Regards, |
