The reckless rush to Net Zero is putting massive strain on an electricity grid designed to be one-way flow. I worked for a major electricity utility as a designer and could see how bad things were getting before I retired 6 years ago. It hasn’t got any better or more stable since then. The transmission lines were overdue for replacement and were constantly breaking down, but those outages were limited and brief. Now the utilities are expected to double the size of a grid that took 50 years to build in the next 5 years. Either that won’t happen or the existing grid will have to miss out on needed maintenance and repair. Regardless, there is likely to be more extensive and longer lasting blackouts as the load ramps up to cope with the change of season. Here is a checklist for you to download so you are prepared for when the lights go out. Regards, |
