Flash, Boom! A bolt of lightening and the crash of thunder were almost together. The means it was close, probably less than a kilometre away. Fortunately the lightening bolt was cloud to cloud and not to the ground. Because my friend and I were riding our bicycles at the time and that was a bit too close for my liking. There was no more crashes or rumbles as we continued on our way to home. We also managed to avoid the rain that bucketed down about 1/2 an hour after we got home. We’ve ridden in the rain and the wind but that was the first time for lightening and thunder. A curious thing happened when we were comparing notes at the end of the ride. Steve’s phone was reading short by about 5 Km. compared to his computer which logs distance from a sensor on the front wheel. Normally they’re very close. The phone logs from the GPS satellites. My theory is that the lightening caused a big EMF surge and screwed up the logging for a while. That triggered a discussion about the electronic controls of the newer bikes. They now have electronic gear changing and electronically controlled brakes. What could possibly go wrong with a big EMF surge? What about these flash EVs? They are all drive-by-wire with more electronics than your computer. I haven’t seen anything that suggests an issue, but perhaps nothing has struck close enough yet. Have you heard or seen anything about this? Regards, P.S. I was hoping to have something ready for you to use regarding the content creation strategy I’ve mentioned in the last couple of emails but it’s not ready for prime time yet. I was tempted to put up a page to offer you a beta product at a discounted price, but I haven’t done that yet either. All I have for you is the Systeme.io link, which you will need for the next step. The free account is fine for now. |
