Today, we drove from Albury to Parkes, about 5 hours driving.

Parkes is the home of the radio satellite tracking station that featured in the movie, The Dish.

We’re going to visit it tomorrow.

However, this email is not about that; this is about one of the strangest names for a Shire I think I have ever seen.

We travelled through the Shire of Bland.

It’s actually named after a Doctor who was a big landholder in the area in the 1800s.

However, I think renaming it would greatly boost the area.

Can you imagine telling family and friends that you were living in Bland?

Some of mine might agree that I have always lived there.

We didn’t stop.

When I was doing my Insurance training, one of my instructors said that we should not be bland in our approach to prospects.

It didn’t matter if we were hot or cold with our approach and attitudes because that would polarise the prospects and result in sales.

Being lukewarm or bland would result in no sales.

It seems to be similar online.

The most polarising people online have big followings and make more money.

The issue for me is that I would struggle to maintain either pole as I tend to have strong views on both sides.

That’s what happens when you think for yourself and do research.

But that’s exactly what I suggest you do.

There is insufficient critical thinking in this world, as evidenced by some of the actions people are taking and the posts on Facebook.

The biggest one now seems to be protests about a pest eradication program in Gaza.

The protestors are calling for a stop to the ‘genocide’, which isn’t happening, while simultaneously calling for one.

Time to think for yourself.
