Something I’ve ranted about before, but there’s fresh proof. Building your business on a 3rd-party platform is like building your house on sand. The foundations can shift overnight. Your building will be lost. I got booted from Clickbank, they never told me why. Others have been booted from YouTube, Ebay, Amazon, Facebook, TikTok, X, Airbnb, PayPal, and many others. There are no explanations. If you build your traffic source or websites on any 3rd-party site this is a perennial potential problem. Recently, OpenAI have announced that GPT developers will no longer be allowed to share the links. People who have built up lucrative businesses selling GPTs have just had their business model closed. It seems that they are even going to stop people building GPTs at all, and there is no clarity about using GPTs that are already sold or shared. Will they keep working? I don’t know. The message is clear though. If you don’t control access to your products, you can lose it. If you don’t control your audience, you can lose it. That’s why I keep banging on about building your email list. It’s the only audience you control. Even if your autoresponder service shuts down, you can move all your subscribers to a new one and keep going. Assuming that you back them up regularly. Use those 3rd-party sites to attract people to your email list. Get them there as soon as possible. If you already have an email list, great.
