The Japanese use Kaizen better than Americans.
The weird thing is that the Americans taught the Japanese the Kaizen method.
This wasn’t called Kaizen before, that’s a Japanese word.
But the Americans developed this method during WW1 to ramp up production.
It worked so well they kept it going until the end of WW2.
That’s when they taught it to the Japanese to help them get their country back on it’s feet.
While the Americans gradually abandoned the method, it suited the Japanese culture.
Think of origami, bonsai, or karesansui (Zen gardens).
These are not Kaizen, but the art of small things is definitely embedded in Japanese culture.
While it seems to be restricted to Japan, it’s not.
This is a method of improvement that we can use everyday.
It fits with what I’ve been talking about, small test assets, stacked.
Going 1% better each day.
You’re not trying to build the next ClickFunnels, you’re building one blog post, tweet, reel, pdf, etc.
Not all of those, just one of them in one day.
The next day you make one of the others.
One small step at a time.

The unfortunate thing is that most of us look for shortcuts to making money.
So we buy the shiny objects, and the flashy courses, watch the latest “AI will make you money” videos.
None of it works for us because we are not doing what we’re good at.
When you do what you’re good at, making money comes easily.
Everything you need to do is easier, and you love it.
That’s where the “Do what you love” folk always get wrong.
It should be “Do what you’re good at” and you’ll love it.
So how do you determine what you’re good at?
What do you do when you’re just playing around?
I make stuff.
Little programs to automate things, or make my life easier.
GPTs, Claude Projects, plugins for WordPress, etc.
I love doing that, and I’m getting better at making them work.

This is a change for me.
I used to hustle with all sorts of things that didn’t work and I abandoned them fast.
Wasted a lot of time for no benefit, except, nothing is wasted.
Everything we do is a learning experience, if we let it.
What I learned is to do what I like to do.
I’m not setting goals with this, but I suspect that I’ll have at least one new thing a month, possibly more.

Some marketers haven’t got the update.
The Internet is dynamic.
Things change rapidly.
In 2024 piling on bonuses seemed to be the way to make more sales.
Then customers realised that adding more crappy bonuses to a crappy product wasn’t a winning proposition, for them.
People began to to resist.
They recognised the PLR bonuses that were thrown on top and that the value claimed did not match the value realised.
I had an email this morning that offered me 21 bonuses if I bought their, whatever it was, through their link.
I suspect there were at least 4 ‘must have’ one-time-offers in that funnel.
Like everyone else, I no longer bonus shop.
If the product is from a marketer I know, and the front-end product looks like it’ll deliver what it says.
If they then ‘bait-and-switch’ by saying that the promises on the front end were for this great premium version, not the one I bought, I’m asking for a refund immediately.
In 2026, an offer must be stand-alone, able to deliver what’s promised, and not have any inflated claims.
And a bonus can be a useful thing.
Not 21, 1, maybe 2, but they must complement the original product.
And the original product?
It must solve a problem the visitor has.
