Not my plan of course. I knew we were going out to lunch with family. There was at least an hour of driving for the luncheon date. That’s total driving time, not one way. Lunch went longer than expected, and then we had some unexpected babysitting to do, which went longer than I thought it might. After that and a brief meal, we had an unexpected visitor, which took out a few hours in the evening. All of those planned and unplanned interruptions meant that the swim I was planning fell by the wayside, that’s now scheduled for tomorrow. I still have to repair the puncture on the bike ready for Friday’s ride, so the swim will have to be in the morning. However, I’m now at the computer for the first time today; you can tell, right? All I really have time for is this email, but that’s the thing about working for yourself. You might have the time you’ve allocated for certain tasks disrupted by external events. That happens. These events are not roadblocks. They are, at best, speed bumps or pinch-points. They’ll slow you down briefly, but will not stop your progress. It’s fine to be focused on what you want to achieve, but not at the expense of family and friend relationships. Becoming stinking rich without any loved ones to share it with is a pretty poor life. Balance. All good things come to those who wait patiently with a positive expectation as long as they continue to work towards their preferred outcome. Regards, P.S. You may find it hard to believe, but while I was writing this email I also made two videos with InVideo. That’s not multi-tasking, that’s time-slicing control. Something we can all do. |
