It’s totally inappropriate to do in the office or the pub.

We probably should do more playing instead of being so damned serious.

I worked with a young family man in a printing firm.

He operated one of the printing machines and he was good at it.

He hated it.

He hated Fridays more than most days because it took so long to get to knock-off time.

He never mentioned it but I suspect he hated Sundays as well because he knew he had to go back to work the next day.

I asked him once why he didn’t do something else.

He replied that he didn’t know anything else.

I then asked him why he didn’t do after-hours study to learn something else.

His reply bothered me.

He said he didn’t have the time.

I haven’t seen or spoken to him for 40+ years and I hope he is happily retired.

These days you can learn anything you want without sitting in a classroom.

There are online schools that cover all subjects.

If that doesn’t work for you, and you don’t need the credentials, most of the AI tools can guide you in any subject or discipline.

The only downside to that is you’ll get a great education in the conventional way of doing things.

That’s a downside because many of the conventional and accepted ways are not working as well as they used to.

Now we need to be far more flexible.

We need to be able to pivot rapidly to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances.
