That’s what FaceBook, YouTube, X, TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. are designed to do. Distract you and keep you on their platform because the longer they can keep you there the more money they make. Do you think Mark Zuckerberg spends time liking or commenting on FB posts? Does Neal Mohan spend his day scrolling through YouTube videos? What about Sundar Pichai? Do you think he spends much time searching for interesting things? Nope, these people run the companies that distract you. They’re too busy making money to be distracted, and that’s what we need to do. Yes, I’m just as guilty as you. I spend too much time watching YT videos, not so much on FB, but it doesn’t matter what your distraction is, it still costs you money. The cost is the opportunity cost. Next time you catch yourself idly scrolling through your timeline or driving down the YT or TT rabbit hole ask yourself. “What could I be doing right now that will either bring people to my pages or improve sales?” That’s what you should could be doing instead. There are only two things – traffic and sales. Even this email is a distraction, but hopefully one that will help you be distracted less. Regards, P.S. The game I told you about yesterday, https://blog.wm-tips.com/lasermaze, is also a distraction. But, because many people are looking for distractions this is a great way to get people to my page and keep them there for a while. That’s why I built it. When I put the ads on the page I will drive traffic to it, but you get to see it without the ads. Just don’t spend too long there. |
