Google have been screwing around with geo-targeting the search results. Even when using the advanced search function it’s still difficult to get search results for any country other than Australia. That means that all my keyword tools are not able to give me decent results. I’ve tried a few VPNs and the best one that’s free is to use the Opera web browser. Opera is a Chromium based browser, so it’s more secure than Chrome and Google can’t track me. Because Opera is Chromium based all the extensions in the Chrome web store install and work. To turn on the VPN in Opera, go to settings and search for VPN, click the toggle. The keywords everywhere extension doesn’t quite work the same as it does in other browsers, and I’ve asked the developers why not. They’ll sort it out and either update the extension or tell me what I’ve done wrong or not done right. Regardless, with the VPN on I’m getting the search results I want and most of the information I want. As much as I like the Arc web browser I’ll have to change to Opera and make that work for me.
