This is/was one of Andre Chaperon’s main sources of income for many years. He swore by them as ‘set and forget’ income streams. None of them are big money machines, usually, but occasionally you hit on an Internet ATM. Those you turn into serious sites and milk them for all they’re worth. The reality is that not all of your sites will make money, some will wither and die from lack of traffic or conversions. Some of those you can tweak and get them to perform, some never will. The problem is that none of us know which ones are going to work and which ones are not. It’s all a ‘suck it and see’ exercise. The reason for that is that you may not have the right traffic source. You might write your pages slightly differently and they don’t resonate with your visitors, The product might not excite them to pull out their credit cards. The images might be wrong. The colours might be wrong. The font might be wrong. The load time might be wrong. And there are more variables that make a difference. Some would even tell you that your mindset is wrong. I don’t believe half of those things. I suspect that the keys are the audience and the offer. If someone convinced you that they had the numbers for the next lottery draw would you care if they were written down on the back of a used envelope in orange crayon? So, TLBs are simple one or two page websites targeting a particular keyword and offering an attractive product. The traffic source should mostly be free and evergreen. That means video, pins, or Instagram posts. X, Facebook, etc. posts are too fleeting to be useful here, except perhaps as a traffic booster at the start. You’ll probably want to avoid Google trends or alerts for your content ideas because they’re also fleeting. Target evergreen problems. Health, relationships, money, entertainment, some sports, and some hobbies. Find good solutions for whatever problem you’re targeting.
