It’s been great. My wife has been in Melbourne from Thursday morning to Sunday evening. I’m not being mean, my wife and I are very comfortable with each other and enjoy being together. But, when I’m writing software there is a lot going on in my head, and any interruption breaks my concentration. Those who code will understand, those who don’t probably not. Anytime there is a break in concentration it can take 10 – 20 minutes to get back into the same headspace. Some people code with music blaring because they only have one thing to ignore and nothing else can break through. I used to do that, I can’t anymore because that’s not acceptable in this house, so silence it is. And the best way to get silence is to have no other people in the house. Three days of almost uninterrupted coding. I have been so productive it’s hard to believe. Now, though, it’s probably going to take me another seven days you finish off what could be done in two. The next two days are Grandie days so they won’t be great for coding, but will be great with the little one. Then there are the other activities that need to be done, socialising etc. It will get done. Persistence is another of those success traits that comes from being disciplined rather than waiting for motivation. This is one of the main concepts that have helped me develop the persistence that gets things done. Regards, |
