It seems that most people don’t think things through.

Case in point, the latest push to ‘protect the children’ from out governments.

Forcing Internet websites to restrict access to ‘minors’.

It’s far too easy for anyone to lie about their age, and provide proof, to bypass any restriction.

It’s easy to use a VPN to bypass local restrictions and appear to be accessing sites from a more relaxed country.

So that means that the legislation can’t, and won’t, work.

But, there’s another issue here.

The sites want everyone to prove who they are, which means that even more data is collected about you.

Not by the government, but by some third-party company, probably not in your country.

What could possibly go wrong?

There has never been any sort of data breach where people’s information has been stolen and sold has there?

An then there is the hypocrisy of the legislation.

Some countries want to ban under 18s from sites deemed inappropriate for their tender minds, but they’re old enough to join the military, police, etc.

They’re old enough to drive and vote.

They’re old enough to have sex, but not old enough to watch other people having sex.

So, is this new crop of legislation for your and your kids protection?

Or is it more about gaining more control over your movements?

This is what China is doing.

You have three ways of playing this.

Take the risk and comply with all requests for data with the truth.

Scrub your data from the Internet as much as possible, and create a new persona for your Internet activities.

Leave the Internet entirely, and never go back.

It’s not so much about not trusting your government, but is about not trusting any site that stores your data to be 100% secure.

Spoiler alert: Nothing is 100% secure, even if it’s not connected to the Internet.
