I get regular notifications that I have “signed in from a different location” or some similar message. The odd thing is that when I am in a different location, I don’t get those notifications any more often. Anyone with an Internet connection via a wireless, mobile ‘phone network, or satellite but doesn’t have a fixed IP address will get these. You can get them even if you’re on a fibre or copper network, but less often. Most of these messages complain about a different IP address showing up at a different location. Tonight I got one that told me I was in the Northern Territory. I’m not. I’m in Adelaide, South Australia, which is over 3,000 km from the border with the NT. Because every ISP has multiple IP numbers, and if they are big enough to have them all over the country, you can be allocated any one of those for your link to the external Internet network. The IT people working in the Internet should know and understand this. They should never assume that the IP address your connection shows up on is your physical location; that’s not how the Internet works. As I used to say at my last place of work, the I in IT does not stand for intelligent. I read recently that a high IQ is not an indication of a high level of common sense. But that’s a story for another email. Can you let me know if you’ve looked further into the subject of making audiobooks from yesterday’s email? I’d love to hear from you. Regards, P.S. I’ve talked about LeadsLeap in my emails before, but I thought I should let you know that I get steady subscribers through this platform. Not a lot, but it seems to average 2-3 a week. There are about 85 subscribers at the moment, so if you think getting subscribers is hard, this has to be the easiest way there is. I don’t send any additional traffic to these pages. It’s all from their internal traffic system. Find out more here: https://go.wm-tips.com/llhome. |
