This weekend, I completed repairing the side fence. Since I’ve never built a fence either alone or with help, this was a new experience. It has taken several weeks to get done because we had to remove all the plants that were pushing it over first. The next step was to get all the posts back close to vertical. Then, we replaced the rotting support beams and rebuilt the structure. All the new timber was cut to size, drilled for bolts, and painted with 4 coats to waterproof the wood. I’m happy with the result. I made some mistakes, but I was able to correct them as we went along. The process is essentially the same as building a funnel, blog, or app. You know what the result should be. You might have to remove some things that are in the way. You’ll make some adjustments first and possibly as you go along. There will be some prep you’ll need to do, and the result might not look as pristine as your imagination, but it will do the job. Even if you’ve never done this before, you know you can do it. Once you’ve done one, you can do as many as you like, and each time you’ll get better and faster.
