Today, at the pool, a young man joined me in the lane. That is no problem; we often have to share a lane. But, this person was battling to swim the 50m on the first leg. His style was all wrong, and he was working very hard on it. I gave him some tips. Which helped. I suggested he swim breaststroke because it’s easier. I had to teach him the action. I sent him to get a paddle board to help with his action. All in all, I spent some time helping him improve a little. But, here’s the thing. When he found out that I was planning to swim 2km, he decided that he could swim 1km. When I got out of the pool, he was up to 600m with only 400m to go. I have no doubt that he made the distance. He’ll sleep well tonight. Swimming is like business, and you have to get in the water and start. The more you do it, the better you become. Sure, you’ll struggle for a while, but determination will get you much further than sitting on the sidelines wishing things were different. Some strokes are easier than others, just like some parts of your business are easier than others; you still have to do them. People who cannot swim will drown if there’s no one to rescue them. People who start a business without some knowledge, help, or guidance will fail. Reading articles, PDFs, listening to podcasts, or watching videos will not affect your ability to swim when you get in the water. They all help once you can already swim. It’s the same with business. Knowledge without action is useless. Action without knowledge is useless. Action with knowledge is marginally better. Action with knowledge and help makes all the difference. https://nomad-productions.convertri.com/mentor. Regards, |
