It’s easy. Don’t attempt anything. You can’t fail if you do nothing. But you can’t live your life hiding in the corner with a blanket over your head. A month or two of that, and you’ll be hiding under your blanket on the street. In the real world, people don’t fail because they make overt mistakes; they fail because they don’t take action. Activity is the only true sign of life. We have several bushes in flower at the moment. The little honey-eaters are very busy. The first ones that arrive are the eastern spine bills. These are finch-sized and often hover like hummingbirds to get at the flowers. They are very quick and constantly on the move. Next, come the eastern honey eaters. They’re about 50% bigger and try to drive off the spine bills, but not always successfully. They’re not quite as quick or as active, but they also sometimes hover to get at the flowers. Then, the noisy miners swoop in and drive off all the others. After a short feed, they also leave, and the spine bills come back. It’s a constant game of ‘Capture the Flag’ where the flag is access to the nectar. But there is constant action. Without the activity, none of these birds would get a feed. Without activity, no website would get visitors, and the Internet would collapse. What activity are you up to today? Did you decide yesterday which path to take? (Read yesterday’s email). I’m re-reading Atomic Habits, https://go.wm-tips.com/atomic, because I need to rejig a few things, and I want to make sure I get it right. Activity habits are the things that keep us on track and make sure we get where we want to be. Regards, |
