We’re on holiday for a week. We haven’t had the caravan out for over a year due to family issues beginning with my mother passing away. 90% of the family issues have nothing to do with that event though. Anyway, we’re a bit out of practice with this caravanning stuff. So, here’s the sequence of mishaps beginning the day we were hitching up. I’ve got the Pajero lined up under the tow ball, but my wife says the van won’t drop down. Correct, when the front stabilisers are still hard on the driveway, the front of the van won’t go any lower. The sway bars weren’t fitted, so we stopped to add them. The towing mirrors weren’t fitted so I stopped to fit them. There was nothing in the refrigerator except a litre of milk. My good jeans didn’t make it into the van. I neglected to include a warm coat. I forgot to pack the modem. The spring-loaded tension ropes for the annex didn’t make it into the van. The vacuum cleaner didn’t make it into the van. I neglected to pack any wine. Anyway, there are shops here and we’ve managed to correct all, well most, of those things. No excuses, we were not well prepared, but we still made it to the camp ground and we are having a break. Perhaps I should have asked this GPT to create a checklist for me to make sure we had everything we needed. The takeaway from this is that you don’t need to have everything when you start a project because you can pick up things along the way. What you do have to do is know where you’re going and get started. Regards, |
