It is also the most egalitarian place to make a great income. Unfortunately, many people in that industry don’t recognise where their income comes from. That’s because they think they are being paid for their skills, but they’re not. I’m talking about sports people here. A highly skilled and entertaining athlete in the darts niche is unlikely to be paid the same as a mid-level professional soccer player. The reason has to do with the fan base and the cost of TV rights. The more popular the sport, the more money there is to pay the players. Similarly, actors are paid based on their personal fan base, not the total fan base for movies. Then we cannot forget writers. It’s possible to make a good living without being a well-known author, but the income gap between those at the top and the rest can be massive. However, it’s all about entertainment. People pay to be entertained. That could be reading, watching movies, going to sporting events, etc., but it’s all entertainment. There is a message in this for me and you. Be more entertaining. You can still provide value, but it needs to be entertaining, at least some times. Regards, |
