There was a time when people would create hundreds of doorway pages who’s sole purpose was to push the ranking of a website higher. Each page would be heavily focussed on one keyword and the only links would be to the main web page. Mostly they were all on the same site. Google stomped all over them because they contributed nothing to the Internet and were designed to manipulate the ranking of a single page. These evolved into all kinds of multi-site linking schemes which also got clobbered by Google. Then there came the PBNs which were bigger sites that could stand-alone but were mostly linked to a single money page. Of course lazy marketers left footprints on all their PBN sites and got clobbered by Google again. What would Google be so down on all these schemes? Because they worked to drive rankings up. They still work, but most marketers are too scared to use them. However, there are still ways to make use of these schemes as long as you don’t care about Google search ranking. If you go where there are already a lot of internal searching you can build the modern version of doorway pages that funnel visitors to your money pages. Places like Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube are all places where people search for keywords or hashtags to get the content they want. You can cross-link these to your hearts content because that is expected and all that traffic improves the chance that you’ll trigger the platform’s algo to push your content. As long as the content is being consumed by people these platforms don’t care if the content is AI generated. For your main site it’s best if it’s not all AI generated. There is little chance that you’ll cop a Google penalty from this because it’s very difficult for Google to find a footprint specific to you on these massive sites.
