Jim Rohn was a master story teller. This is one of his. When you are walking through the woods one day, you hear a THUMP. You ignore it. A few minutes later, THUMP. Curiosity gets the better of you. You head towards the sound. THUMP. You come across a clearing. In the middle of the clearing there is a huge rock rising off the ground. It gets to about 20 feet, and falls. THUMP, it hits the ground. As it rises again you wonder. “Why is it doing that?” It doesn’t matter why it’s doing that, it’s sufficient to know that it does. THUMP. It’s as reliable as sunrise. You don’t have to understand it. Everything you need to know is right there in front of you. You can observe it from anywhere in the clearing, except underneath it.
Life is like that. Business is like that. You don’t have to understand it. You only have to know what works with monotonous reliability. You can stand on the sidelines and observe it passing you by. Or, you can get in there and take advantage of what you know works with monotonous reliability. Activity is valuable. People buy what you’ve learned works and are prepared to share. Knowing stuff that’s not backed up by action produces no income. Even things you do that fail, or don’t get the results you want can be case studies of what not to do. You can take advantage of dumb ideas by reading this. Regards, |
