1984 is alive and well, but it’s not the Government watching you and collecting all your data, yet. It’s Google, Meta, Amazon, Apple, etc. Why? Because the more they know about you, the higher price they can get for advertising to you. But that’s not the only reason. They can also manipulate your thinking by putting content that promotes their agenda in front of you, persistently. Why do you think that any YouTube video that talks about Climate Change gets their little Climate Change snippet underneath it? That’s one of the more overt things they do. The other possibly less obvious one is the videos they offer you on the right hand side of the page. They are also tailored to your viewing pattern. Facebook do the same in the things they put in your timeline. They all suppress things they don’t like and promote the things they do. One of the ways they collect this data is via the web browser you use and your activities online. You can check how secure your web browser is through this web page My nephews use that ignorant statement that, “If you have nothing to hide you don’t need to worry about security.” My main one isn’t the worst on the block, but not the best either. My very secure one is excellent. Regards, P.S. Having a very tiny and secure footprint online is great for personal privacy, but it totally useless for marketing. For that you want people to be able to find you, but on your terms. That’s what I think many tiny products is better than one big one. That way your targeting a small sub-niche that the bulk of people don’t care about or even pay attention to. The ones who do care about it are the ones who will snap up any information they can find, yours included. Put your offers on one of these sites, https://burt.gumroad.com/l/zero-risk, and you can hide even better because they have really good bot protection. That keeps the data slurpers off your site and away from your data. |
