Being given a gift for some activity or product that you have to create an account for? Because then those companies think they have the right to start emailing you all sorts of rubbish. All you want is the gift, not their promotional emails. It would be simple enough to do. Tag the recipient as a receiver, not a giver. Make sure they get what they want and nothing else. In fact, not making them sign up to get their gift, the code on the gift certificate should be enough to get it released. When you’re forced to create an account to get a gift you should be automatically unsubscribed once the gift has been delivered or after a set period. Being forced to create an account and then sending anything other than the delivery instructions qualifies as spam, and that’s how I plan to keep tagging the emails. What’s your thoughts? Regards, P.S. The one thing that all marketers need is traffic. A brilliant offer with no traffic will never make more money than a mediocre offer with heaps of traffic. The singular major skill any marketer must learn is how to get traffic. Not just any traffic either, it needs to be at least marginally interested in the offer.
