Have you ever heard or said that?

Wanna know a secret?

Money doesn’t reward intelligence, it rewards execution.

Some people are too smart for their own good.

They endlessly analyse any opportunity that is offered.

The think up what could be a brilliant idea, then destroy it by thinking of everything that could go wrong.

They suffer from the paralysis of analysis.

90% of the problems they think up will never happen.

The one’s that do show up, and some will, are not the ones they thought of.

While they’re doing all that thinking and analysing, someone not as smart as them has already made their first $10k with the same idea.

The best way to get over an obstacle is to hit it with momentum.

I learnt that racing motorbikes in Enduro events.

But I would never have known how to do that from reading a magazine and thinking about it.

I had to take what I learnt and apply it in the real world.

Guess what?

My bike didn’t do things the same way other people’s bikes did, so my method for getting over obstacles was different from theirs.

You’ll find the same in any income generating method you learn.

You’re different, your skills are different, your finances are different, your results will be different.

Traffic is easy.

With $100, you can get all the traffic you want.

But even good traffic won’t help if it doesn’t convert.

That’s why your offer is most important.

Once, I made an offer, gained interest, and failed to follow up.

It happened on a small jet flying from Darwin to Wyndham.

I chatted with one of the hostesses and suggested we meet up later.

This was before mobile phones.

When the plane landed, she handed me a tissue with a big red lipstick kiss and a phone number.

I never called her.

Doh! A top-class mistake.

I made an attractive offer, it was accepted, but my follow-up was poor, and no sale resulted.

Do you have any funnels like that?
Remember: any offer you make doesn’t end at the sales page.

It might start with a landing page featuring a teaser offer.

If that’s accepted, you gain a subscriber, not a sale—even if they see the sales page.

Your follow-up email sequence must convert that subscriber into a customer by highlighting the benefits they’ll get if they buy.

Assuming your funnel is set up and your emails are compelling, you should make at least one sale for every ten subscribers.

These are hot prospects after all.

If not, perhaps your offer isn’t right for your target market.

Find the right audience or reframe your offer for them.

Niching down to address a single problem with a single solution usually works best.

Particularly the AI generated crud that so many are using.

There’s nothing wrong with AI generated content as long as the marketer uses that as the starting point, not the end point.

Most of your readers are more interested in your thoughts on any subject, not the generic stuff they usually get.

Talking about this stuff will get you readers, watchers, and subscribers.

Now you have an audience.

With an audience you can create products that help them solve problems in their lives.

People buy products that help them.

Brief interlude: I’ve had a few people send me an email that says “Unsubscribe” – there’s a handy link at the end of every email that works just fine. Feel free to click it.
Back to the main email.

There are hundreds of searches every day that most marketers ignore.

Some of these keywords get thousands or even tens of thousands of searches daily.

They are ignored because they are not ‘buyer intent’ keywords.

People searching for stuff they don’t have to pay for, game info, how to…, movie information, weather data, etc.

None of these people are looking to buy anything so how do you turn that into income?

By not selling them anything.

There are multiple places that will pay you for views.

Not clicks.

Not sales.

Just eyeballs on their stuff.

They don’t pay much, but most of this traffic can be siphoned off big high-traffic sites so the ROI is excellent.

1,000 views a day at $0.25 = $250 a day.

The easiest place to get this traffic is YouTube.

You will need a blog for this, but a free one will do the job.

The blog posts do not need to be high quality so you can use AI for this.

Feed the blog post into your favourite AI tool and ask for a summary.

Use the summary to make the video.

Link it back to the blog post.

Test running paid traffic to the video and the blog post.

See if it scales or if you need to keep the traffic free.

It’s all just testing and tweaking from here.

But first you have to find the high-traffic and low competition keywords.

I have to use a VPN to get the best results from this tool because all it’s data comes from Google and they give me Australian data which isn’t the target market for this activity.

A sign my blood pressure was high.

I ride the same track each time I go out, so I keep trying to improve my average speed.

When we first cracked the 20kph average we were stoked.

Then we did that more often than not.

This year we’re hitting the 21kph average more often than not.

Today I was trying for 22kph average.

I didn’t succeed, but I worked so hard that my eyes were bloodshot at the end.

I’ll get there soon.

Then we’ll be doing that regularly.

I get a lot of pleasure from extending myself and getting fitter as I get older.

But it’s like anything in life.

You only get out what you put in, and whatever you focus on you get better at.

There are so many things you can do to improve your health, fitness, relationships, finances, etc. that it is often difficult to find a balance.

It’s also difficult to find the time to fit everything in.

There was a story about a man who allotted 2 hours only per day to any single task.

He didn’t have the same task in any 2 hour period every day.

He became highly productive.

He wrote books, ran a business, improved his relationships, learnt several languages, etc.

This worked for him because he was able to focus intently for a 2 hour block and then move on.

Blocking time like this will not work for everyone because there are often unexpected distractions.

We all have those, and have to deal with them.

However, we all need to block out some time for the really important things.

Often the thing that we spend the least time on is better than the thing we spend most time on.

When you tune your guitar there is a stage where you’ll say, “It’s good enough for Rock and Roll”.

It’s the same with everything.

That book your writing?

80% is good enough because you’ll never get to 100% ever.

The 80:20 rule says that 20% of your activity brings 80% of your results, so why do we worry about the remaining 80%?

Publish, put out a second edition that fixes the mistakes later – perhaps.

One of the well known classic books is Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

She began writing this as part of a competition when stuck indoors for a few weeks due to poor weather.

She was 18 at the time and hadn’t written anything before.

The critics hated it, but the public loved it.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas was written in two and a half days, an excellent novel.

The fastest hit songs ever written were done in 10 minutes – Just Dance – Lady Gaga, Skyfall – Adele, Photograph – Ed Sheeran.
In movies we have Rocky – 3 days, Breakfast club – 2 days, Scream – 4 days.

The message here is get out of your way and just write.

That doesn’t mean that these were the finished product, some of them were, but some needed a little polish afterwards.

Whatever you write in a hurry might also need a bit of polish, but if it’s just spelling and grammar that are needed for polish then Grammarly can sort that out for you.

Stock market chart shows a declining trend.

I’m a bit late to the party here, but when the crypto market had a crash on Friday the effects were devastating for some.

Some people were leveraged to buy in.

This amplifies the losses.

There are many stories of people losing piddly sums like $1million to over $250million in ten minutes.

This type of volatility is why I stay out of that market, and I would never borrow money to buy crypto.

That is also why I stick with Internet Marketing.

The costs are controllable, the income is regular, and the scalability is up to me.

Consider this example.

I build a simple two-page website for an underserved and very niche product.

I make a couple of short videos that I post to YouTube, Vimeo, TicTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and X.

These bring me enough traffic that the site makes a steady $30 monthly, and grows my subscriber list.

Now I can scale this up.

I can add a product for sale.

I can find influencers with an audience and pay them in commissions to promote the site.

I can add more videos, a PDF to document sharing sites, an article to the article sites, answer some questions on Reddit, Quora, any other forum or Facebook group I can find.

Soon the site might be making $30 a week heading to $30 a day.

At some point I might find that I cannot find any more traffic for that niche.

There’s nothing stopping me from a little rinse and repeat in another niche, etc.

Some niche sites will grow much faster, some will grow more slowly, but if you’re not doing anything much you’ll only find the great ones accidentally.

I’m not saying that you won’t get lucky with your first attempt, I am saying that it’s unlikely.

We all make mistakes, we wouldn’t be human if we didn’t.

This one was a beauty.

I use a remote controlled wheel to move the caravan into the car port because it’s a bit squeezy.

Unfortunately, the slope of the road and the driveway are at the limits of any remote mover so it’s a bit of a juggle.

It doesn’t help that the remote is a bit intermittent so there’s often a lot of stop start and rotation of the wheel.

Except this time I failed to crank the device up a little and it jammed on rotation.

There was a loud bang and bits of metal fell onto the road.

The van was still half-way into the road and blocking one lane.

And stuck.

Hitching the Pajero onto the caravan at an angle was challenging, blocking the rest of the road in the process.

Lucky it’s a quiet road.

Anyway, half an hour later the van is safely tucked away and the road is clear.

I mentioned expensive mistakes.

I ordered the parts today.

$490.

I’ll have them in a week, and I won’t make that mistake again.

No, it wouldn’t have been cheaper to replace the unit, that’s $2.5k worth of kit.

Another expensive mistake I see people making almost every day.

Not investing in themselves with money and time.

We’ve all done it, some for longer than others, but the result is the same.

Nothing.

The answers won’t help you now anyway because you already know everything you need to know to start.

The rest of the answers will show up when you need them, but without starting you won’t know which questions need answers.

Nor is it relevant to any of your domains.

What is relevant is what you, personally, are doing with those sites.

I’ve come to realise that it’s not speed that wins the game.

I know that people often say that ‘money loves speed’, but I think that’s mostly wrong.

There is a time for speed and there is a time to slow down.

The time for speed is when you have a new idea.

Then you need to move fast to get started.

To stake your claim to that idea.

Nail it to the mast, as it were.

But then, it takes slow, focussed, persistent action to implement and grow that idea.

Here is where hurry slows you down because you get scattered, unfocussed, and distracted.

You try to do too much too fast and nothing works because you don’t stick with anything long enough.

You spend too much time trying to take less time.

That ‘aint never going to work.

So, slow down.

Allow your projects to mellow, to ferment, to grow at their own pace.

You’ll not only feel less stressed, but you’ll come up with genius ideas in the process.

It can help to talk with others who will understand what you’re attempting to do.
