It’s true that encrypting your hard drive will reduce the space you need. It’s also true that having all your data encrypted is a security ‘fix’. But, I don’t like and won’t use any sort of encryption on any of my drives because if you get a drive failure or corruption you will lose all your data. If the encryption tool gets corrupted, you’ll lose everything. No one can recover data from an encrypted hard drive. Well, they can, but it will still be encrypted so it may not be any use to you. There are many people who can recover data from a corrupted hard drive. Thjere are many people who can recover data from an accidentally, or deliberately, wiped hard drive. That is, unless the person doing the wiping knows how to properly wipe a drive, and most don’t. The best way to protect your data is by backing it up into two places. One, into a cloud storage unit. Two, another hard drive that you keep away from the original source. Some of you might be saying that there isn’t anything important on your computer anyway. You may be right, but what about all those photos? What about those PDFs? What else might you have that you use regularly? If they’re not important, delete them. If they are important, back them up. Just don’t encrypt them. Regards, How to get human traffic.
